Soul Food: June 28, 2018

Sometimes moms need to hear that it's okay to let some spinning plates fall in order to hold on to what's important. It's also okay to pause and take time to nourish your self.

Anyone with teens, be sure to show them Chris Pratt's Generation Award speech from the MTV Movie Awards. Anyone without teens, watch anyways and be encouraged!

Looking for some ways to keep your young kids busy and engaged this summer?  Here are a few of our favorite toys for kids that are FUN (but also and engaging and stimulating for their brains...but shhhh....don't tell them that)

How fun is this 4th of July-inspired Cheese Board?  (via  Emily Ley.)

Speaking of 4th of July, when it comes to food nothing says, "4th of July" to us like this 7-Layer Dip.  Virginia Beach friends, you can find it in the Tidewater on the Half Shell Cookbook!  (Yes, we see the irony that it's actually a Mexican inspired dish on our Independence Day!)

A review course in mastering the art of the perfect summer salad.

Speaking of salad?  How delicious does this recipe for a Waldorf Salad look?!

Ever wanted to read the Bible in just two pages?  Now you can!  Click here for a free download that breaks it down from Genesis to Revelation in just two pages.

You can take it even further than that with Angie Smith's Bible Study, Seamless, which shed light on the Bible and helps readers understand the Bible as one complete story.

As far as we're concerned, we can NEVER have too many S'Well bottles.  Loving these Lilly Pulitzer S'Wells.  Plus, they make excellent gifts!!  (via Emily Ley.)

We take our sparkling water VERY seriously! Our newest obsession: Polar Seltzer. Y'all, it tastes like you're drinking a soft drink from Sonic, with ZERO calories and ZERO artificial sweetener. I mean, can it get any better than that?!? We haven't had much luck finding it locally, but you can buy it in bulk from BOXED.

That's it for this week! Can't get enough?!? Check out past editions of Soul Food Weekly here.
